Call for Entry: Art of Photography 2009


The ART OF PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW 2009 is an international exhibition of photographic art which will take place August 29 through November 1, 2009 at the elegant Lyceum Theatre Gallery, located in the historic Gaslamp Quarter of downtown San Diego, California. The Opening Reception Gala will be on Saturday, August 29th, and will be a world class event!

CALL FOR ENTRIES:
The Prospectus and entry details are available here. The online entry process is very easy, simply filling out a short registration form and then uploading your images as JPEG files. Images created via any form of photography will be accepted for consideration (i.e. shot on film, shot digitally, unaltered shots, alternative process, mixed media, digital manipulations, montages, photograms, etc.), so long as part of the image is photographically created.

JURIED COMPETITION:
Charlotte Cotton is the Judge for the Art of Photography Show 2009. Ms. Cotton is Curator and Head of the Photography Department at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) She has curated photography exhibitions at museums and universities around the world and has written numerous books, catalogs, essays and articles on various aspects of photography. Charlotte Cotton is highly respected in the global photographic community, so it's a significant honor to be selected by her.

ENTRY FEE:
$25 for the first entry, $10 for each additional entry. There is no limit to the number of entries an artist may enter. The entire registration, upload, and payment process can be done securely right on the website.

Call for Entry: Women Photojournalists of Washington

I am pleased to announce that I will be a judge for the Women Photojournalists of Washington along with Susanne Miklas of Newsweek and Pamela Chen of Open Society Institute. Submissions are only open members who are professional female photojournalist or students based in the DC metro area.

Deadline is Sunday, March 15, 2009 at midnight.


No Need to Upgrade to HD



Once again, I have succumbed to the need to collect and
catalogue images based on the subject of the photograph. The next theme, I think, will be based on patterns or design, but for now enjoy some lovely television images I found.

Call for Entry: Photography.Book.Now



Photography.Book.Now 2008, which was hosted by Blurb and included a range of photography industry sponsors (like American Photography, JPG magazine, Flickr, etc), is now set to begin again, for a second time, with the same Grand Prize ($25,000!).

This year, there will be 3 categories (as opposed to just the 2 from last year): Fine Art, Editorial, Commercial. The wording for these 3 categories can be found here, on the Photography.Book.Now website.

The judges, who will be announced in the coming weeks, will be drawn from the international pool of photography professionals with backgrounds in the arts and editorial work, and will include magazine picture editors, gallerists, photographers and museum curators. We had an amazing line-up of judges last year, and this year will be no different.

Call for Entry: Hey Hot Shot


Hey, Hot Shot! competition has officially begun for 2009! They are currently accepting submissions for consideration in this round of competition.

This year's panelists are Jen Bekman, Christine Collins, Dana Faconti, Caterina Fake, Stephen Frailey, Raul Gutierrez, Darius Himes, Jenni Holder, Julia Leach, Nion McEvoy, Lesley A. Martin and Kent Rogowski.

The deadline is Friday, May 1st, 2009 @ 8pm EDT.

Call for Entry: Women in Photography

WIPNYC - Lightside Individual Project Grant
Women in Photography, co-founded by Amy Elkins and Cara Phillips in June 2008 to showcase the works of female fine art photographers, is pleased to announce their first project grant, funded by Lightside Photographic Services and co-sponsored by LTI. The $3,000 grant award will provide funding to one photographer to support project costs.

GRANT: $3000.00. One grant will be awarded

Call for Entry: NY Photo Festival


The New York Photo Awards 2009 will once again honor talented photographers from all over the world whose exceptional work breaks new grounds visually, intellectually and aesthetically. The Awards will give these visual artists the opportunity to reach key decision makers in the photographic community and the editorial, fine art and commercial worlds. Submissions will be accepted starting March 2nd through May 1st, 2009. The Award winners will be announced in May during the second edition of the Festival.
